Red-crowned cranes, which are frequently featured in Oriental paintings, have been a very familiar sight to the people of Korea. The cry of the bird is so strong and sonorous that it can be heard at a distance of 4 km. Red-crowned cranes eat small underwater animals on damp areas and minor grains and insects on farmlands.
