Red Lobster

1950s

Lithuanian National Museum of Art

Lithuanian National Museum of Art
Vilnius, Lithuania

One of the most impressive of the painter’s still-lifes, featuring a lobster on a plate, was painted during the mature period of the artist’s career. The canvas’ composition is especially decorative and ornamental. The lobster motif is conveyed using refined stylization, while the effect created by means of expression is reminiscent of that created in pastel or coloured lithograph works.
