Red Palulu

An illustration of Heliconia bihai , known as red palulu, a species of herb native to northern South America and the West Indies. Heliconia is almost exclusively pollinated by hummingbirds.

The etching is is framed and hanging and on loan to John Kress, Office of the Under Secretary for Science, Smithsonian Institution, Room 105, Smithsonian Castle. Loan is through Richard Stamm, Curator, SI Castle Collections (11/19/10).
