This is a Manchu woman's dress from the Qing Dynasty. It is made of red satin and decorated with a eight circular patches, a motif created during the Daoguang reign (1821-1850). Each of the eight roundels depicts a scene emphasizing a different flower, each flower representing one of the eight Banners of Manchu military and administrative officials in the Qing Dynasty.
