Laminated “Tribune of the People” – stressing participation in social life, is kept in the spirit of similar inclinations to embalm memories in visual form. The artist has used here a daily newspaper published in the years 1948–1990, as if he wanted to keep it “for posterity” under layers of resin. Here too, Brzuskiewicz uses “civilization’s waste”, objects whose life and usefulness quickly come to an end, and which – as superfluous – are abandoned. He is collecting not only the “gifts of Nature”, but also human artefacts, making his creation a peculiar collection of a variety of memorabilia from the reality surrounding us. [N. Cieślak]
