In her exhibition Likes Charge, Melanie Clemmons transforms the gallery into a livestream temple dedicated to reimagining networked technology as a medium for spiritual rejuvenation and metaphysical manifestation. Surrounded by a series of video art projections that cast a magic circle, free from the internet’s more sinister elements, viewers can freely connect to cloud-based bliss. Depicted here is a replication of a pool using display screens and glass blocks. The piece raises questions about the use and utility of a pool past recreation. It is a tool for contemplation and reflection, similar to the myth of narcissus.
