The centre of the field of Jerzy Wardak’s photo-montage, entitled Reflections, defines the act of a woman sitting with her back facing the viewer. The shape of her head (the dark hair falling over her shoulders), torso and buttocks are “outlined”. The whole figure inscribes itself in the form of the letter “S”. The woman seems to be a natural extension of the tree growing with bare roots – apparently floating in the air – from the ridge of earth filling the bottom layer of the picture field. In the upper part of the photograph, a tree limb rises upwards, starting at the woman's head and being its natural extension, and then branches out in a lush thicket of twigs tightly filling the upper part of the picture field with the clear line of the vertical axis passing through the centre along the plane. Below, in the background, the rural landscape stretches out with the remotely drafted horizon line falling in the middle of the photography field. [P. Lisowski]
