Led by faculty members Carlos Texiera, Chris Rudd, and Ruth Schmidt, a group of ID student designers tackled contemporary civic problems in Chicago through the Sustainable Solutions Workshop.
The course applied methods for design and innovation to envision sustainable solutions for infrastructure, operation, governance, and revenue generation. Using generative prototyping, the students modeled new infrastructures that leverage the interconnectivity of markets, technology, finance, and social networks.
Their exploration of the complex adaptive systems that shape our world can be applied to innovative solutions for a more equitable and sustainable Chicago that benefits local communities.
