Relation Between the Surface of the Earth and Layers of the Air

The illustration shows the relation between cross-sectional surface of the earth, the thin isolating layer of the air, the thin and rarefied layer of the conductive atmosphere and the very rarefied layer of the none-conductive layer. Tesla showed this sketch for the first time to Lord Kelvin in September 1897.
