  • Title: Relief of Ka-aper with Offerings
  • Creator: Artist Name Unknown
  • Date: 2565 - 2420bce
  • Physical Location: Detroit, MI, U.S.A.
  • Provenance: Abusir (formerly thought to be Saqqara) For a complete discussion of the source from which this block comes including related pieces and other titles of the deceased, see Fischer, 1959, Verner, 1993, and Barta, 2001. Fischer placed this block with other pieces from the same tomb, and was able to argue the date and probable original location with some certainty although at that time the blocks came from an unknown source. He identified the Detroit piece as the central panel of the lintel of the false door of the tomb. With his collection of all of the known pieces from this tomb he was of the belief that this would have been the only false door in the tomb. Later excavations by the Czech Institute of Egyptology located the site of Ka aper's tomb at Abusir., Founders Society Purchase, Sarah Bacon Hill Fund
