Renaissance and Reformation. German Art in the Age of Dürer and Cranach

This very finely worked relief is the first dated work by Peter Dell the Elder. The last identifiable student of Tilman Riemenschneider opened the art of carving of his day to the themes and visual language of the age of the Reformation. In some cases he modeled his works on Lucas Cranach the Elder. Three of his panels found their way in the Kunstkammer in Dresden
