Remember Scarborough Poster

The famous image of Britannia waving her sword and spurring a huge crowd of men on to fight, whilst Scarborough burns in the background, was used by the War Office on recruitment posters; it inspired thousands to join up and 'do their bit'.

The original painting is owned by Scarborough Museums and Galleries and can be viewed in Scarborough Art Gallery.
