Renee Cawthorne, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Renee is a proud Wiradjuri woman who grew up on Darkingjung Country on the Central Coast of New South Wales and has experience as the Manager of Aboriginal Education and Engagement at Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens - educating visitors on the rich culture of Aboriginal Peoples and the history of Gadigal Country. Previously she worked as an Aboriginal educator at the Australian Museum.

Renee grew up under challenging circumstances. With hard work, determination and support from many people along the way, she’s broken through the cycle of disadvantage to forge a career grounded in science and the heritage of Indigenous Australians.
