When Marcel Reich-Ranicki retired from the jury of the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 1986, he was honored by the City of Klagenfurt, whose name is closely linked with that international literature competition. He received, among other things, this Klagenfurt Ceremonial Thaler, a copy of a silver coin minted by Ferdinand I in 1532.
