Chabot Cave is probably the place where Paleolithic cave art was identified for the first time. Its publication intervened a few months after that authenticating the cave of Altamira discovered in 1879 (Spain). This parietal frieze is composed of complex lineaments among which it is possible to discern notably some whooly mammoths.
