In the middle of the engraving, inside the chamber, Nicolaus Copernicus is depicted, who is also the compositional center. He sits in an armchair, leaning on a pillow, giving the impression that he is looking at the viewer. With his left hand he touches an open book, which is handed to him by a man in a richly decorated cloak. Around him are nine male figures, including clergy, including one in bishop's attire. On the right side there is a kneeler on which a man in a clergyman's attire is leaning. In the upper right corner there is a window with a view of the western façade of the Frombork Cathedral. In front of Copernicus, on his left, there is a celestial globe. Above it, in a niche, there are smaller astronomical instruments: triquevetrum, armillary sphere and quadrant. Between them is a scroll with a seal. On the left side there is an open door, behind which praying male and female figures are visible.
