This painting depicts a composite figure of an exhausted female figure bearing the head of an octopus reclining on a rocky seashore. The portrayal is therianthropic, as would be the case in a number of his later works; the scene is a seascape, and again water and the aqueous anvirons become ever more evident as the artist advances in his career.
