Restitution of 1755: Hacking Giyanti

This collaboration of the duo Irwan-Tita and Yudi Ahmad Tajudin attempts to play with foundations of historical legitimacy, which are now rarely questioned. In this work, the artists are interested in living space conflict that recently emerged in Yogyakarta, on elite and grassroot levels. “Restitution of 1755: Hacking Giyanti” was not created to seek the true history, but intentionally questions the legitimacy of the Yogyakarta Sultanate.
