Joseph-Nicephore Niépce (Chalon-sur-Saone, March 7, 1765 - July 5, 1833). French inventor and photographer. He designed, together with his brother Claude, internal combustion engine for boat (the pireolòfor, 1807), before becoming interested in the then innovative technique of lithography. Having no artistic skill for drawing, he tried to obtain images by photochemical methods. He obtained the first photographic images of history around 1816, although it has not been preserved ningunq them. The results began to be positive around 1822, finally obtaining a permanent negative image, "heliographic". He teamed up with Louis-Jacques Mande Daguerre in 1929. After the death of Niepce, Daguerre continued to investigate and managed to improve the image fixing process and reduce exposure times, baptizing the procedure called "daguerreotype".
