Julio Vila y Prades was a Spanish painter working between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 1900s. His artistic training was between Spain and Paris. In 1905, he made his first trip to Latin America, where he stayed for a year in Buenos Aires. In 1908, he returned to Argentina and married Carmen Artal. In the country, he made decorative work in some public buildings. “Retrato de mulher”, from 1920s, arrived at Pinacoteca in 1937.
