View of the white houses and tiled pathways that make up the summer retreat of Roman architect Michele Busiri Vici and his family. Located on Monte Circeo, the promontory between Rome and Naples, the retreat consists of six houses creating a mini village by the sea, "Il Villaggio Marinaro." The building seen here is the main house, with the door marked by a tiled whale to the left of the archway. The stones that make up the walkways were taken from the local beach. All of the windows are small and arched to avoid glare and the white walls are thick to protect against the summer heat.
