In the 1990s and 2000s Alex Mylona created a large series of paintings in which she attempts to formulate her vital relationship with the world and nature, to touch the secret of existence, motherhood and the erotic union. Using bright, vibrant colours, the subjects acquire a symbolic dimension and the artist emphasises the timeless and universal character of each of them, while at the same time projecting in a conspicuous way the undisturbed and primordial relationship between Woman and the Earth, in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth that transcends individual destiny and opens up to the collective. These artworks by Alex Mylonas, among them "Return to Earth I", are in direct correspondence with personal experiences, mental and emotional states.
