Real Fossil - Late Jurassic 150 Mya - Germany
Cartilage typically doesn't fossilize - the conditions for this kind of preservation are incredibly rare. This guitarfish - from the Solnhofen Formation - is an example of rare cartilige fossilization. Although nearly 150 million years old, there are still living members of this family of cartilaginous fish, despite being an endangered species in the modern day.
