Skokloster Castle

Skokloster Castle
Skoklosters, Sweden

This beaker of rhinoceros horn displays a hunting motif, men chasing game with guns in their hands. Amor, the small god of love and desire, stands on the lid and underneath, hidden from the viewer’s eyes, a couple in “a loving embrace”. The beaker could be a gift from the Prince Bishop Veit Adam von Gepeckh (1584-1651) to Carl Gustaf Wrangel.
