This elegant box was created and designed by Nikoli Medvedev and is an outstanding example of intarsia, or stone inlay. Minerals represented in the box include:

rhodochrosite (pink) from Argentina

malachite (green) from Bisbee, AZ and the Democratic Republic of the Congo

azurite (blue) from Bisbee, AZ

sugilite (purple) from South Africa

opal (white) from Australia

turquoise (blue) from the Sleeping Beauty Mine, AZ

The inside of the box features picture jasper as well as birch, cherry and teak and a beautiful yellow gold dragonfly stop and hinge.

Gift of Steven and Debra Daren in 1994.This object was designed by Nikoli Medvedev.
