A lithograph titled Rice Granary, Bali by Mexican artist Miguel Covarrubias (1904-1957). Whilst on his honeymoon in 1930 and as a Guggenheim Fellow in 1933, Covarrubias traveled extensively to Bali. Covarrubias and his wife Rosa Rolando, a photographer, released a book Island of Bali for which these lithographs were made. Short Biography: José Miguel Covarrubias Duclaud was born in 1904 in Mexico City, Mexico. He moved to New York in 1923 on a mexican government grant where he drew for Newspapers and Magazines. He became the premier artist for Vanity Fair and was one of the most influential artists in New Work during the 1920s and 1930s. He passed away in Mexico City in 1957.
