Rice Harvest

In the first half of the 20th century, the climate and the type of rice that was used meant that rice was not harvested until late-September or October. It was incredibly cold and difficult work for farmers being knee- or waist-deep in rice paddies wearing no special equipment or clothes to protect them from the wet and cold.
