This tympanum is inserted in the Fachada de Platerías, located on the south side of the Cathedral. Throughout its history, this facade has undergone several alterations that have turned it into a great puzzle of styles and periods.
While the left tympanum represents the temptations of Christ, the right tympanum includes, apart from the scene of the Adoration of the Magi in its upper part, scenes from the Passion of Christ. The Codex Calixtinus contains a description of the Epiphany: “the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, is sculpted with her son in Bethlehem; and the three kings came to see the Child and his Mother, offering them the three gifts, and the star and the angel who warned them not to return to Herod”.
