Riley Roca and Celeste Kori

In October of 2018, Orange County Library System hosted StoryCorps, a non-profit which provides people across the country with the opportunity to record and preserve the stories of their lives. Archiving the wisdom, experience, and cultural history of participants for the use of future generations.

During these recordings, local artist Thomas Thorspecken illustrated each of the subjects with pencil and watercolors.

Riley Roca made the difficult decision to pull her two children out of the public school system after her son had been bullied. Using the resources available at the library, she began her homeschool journey.

Despite the lack of a traditional education, Riley’s daughter, Celeste Kuri has flourished to become the CEO of Super Soaps USA. At the time of recording, Super Soaps USA became a registered trademark.
