Theodore Roosevelt's Secretary of State, John Hay, gave TR this ring, which contains a lock of Abraham Lincoln's hair, on inauguration day in 1905. John Hay had previously served as Lincoln's private secretary. Abraham Lincoln was one of TR's personal heroes.
