Rita Moreno on West Side Story

Actress Rita Moreno tells the story of being cast in the film West Side Story, and the experience of working with Jerome Robbins. She also describes her low expectations of how the film would fare at the box office:

"There were no stars in it. Natalie Wood wasn’t a star…She’d done ‘Splendor in the Grass,’ but that still didn’t make her a star star…I was absolutely sure that nobody was going to reserve a ticket…I was sure we were going to just plummet."
