Count Eriberto Casati of Spino and Nosadello (1862-1922), of an ancient Lombard noble family, with house in Via Monte Napoleone in Milan, administrator in the Institute for Insurance of Workers' Accidents, is not a direct benefactor "of the Ospedale Maggiore: it is his sister Beatrice who remembers in her memory a legacy of 116,000 lire after which the portrait of the count is commissioned to Giuseppe Amisani: having almost certainly a photograph as a model, he represents him standing, in a dark suit and bowler, leaning against a walking stick, in a lush and romantic garden, with rocks, flowers, trees.
