This powerful presentation of a landscape painting merges the conventional and the innovative, with traditional techniques and media creating an unconventional ambiance. The four panels, in the format of Chinese vertical scrolls, allow the subject matter to make its assertive statement. A single light source shed on the colossal cliff highlights the craggy, hard surface, which is done in rigorous strokes. The metaphorical allusions to aspirations, stamina and strength in this painting are the artist’s tribute to the people of Hong Kong.
