Torquay, Australia

Roger "Duck" Kieran was a pioneer Australian surfboard builder, he was one of the early converts to balsa and fibreglass construction methods in the late 1950s. Influenced by American team boards brought to Australia for events in 1956 this board features his initials on the tail as well as a faded Okinui Club shield logo on the deck. The board also carries 1963-64 council surf permit stickers. At that point surfers were required to register their surfboards with some local Sydney councils.
