Lisboa, Portugal

A lenticular jar, with fluting created by blowing the glass into a mould and with applied neck and handles. In functional terms, its form is appropriate for visits to the baths and for taking on pilgrimages.
The Calouste Gulbenkian collection has another eleven pieces of glass from the Roman era (vases, jars, glasses, aryballo, amphoriscos, oenochoe) from the first to the fourth centuries. These pieces came from the Eastern Mediterranean/Near East or are of unknown origin.
