Ronan Point high-rise block of flats opened in 1968. At over 200 feet high, it accommodated 110 flats over 22 stories. Built by Taylor Woodrow Anglian, it was constructed using the Large Panel System, which involved the prefabrication of concrete sections that were lifted into position by crane and bolted together. On 16 May 1968 a gas explosion caused a partial collapse, resulting in the death of four people.
