Ford's Theatre

Ford's Theatre
Washington, D.C., United States

Osborn Oldroyd moved into the Petersen House in 1893 and brought with him more than 3,000 Lincoln-related items. In 1896, the federal government bought the home from Louis Schade but permitted Oldroyd to continue running his museum. This photograph shows the room in which Lincoln died, with an "X" marking the spot that held the bed.
