Rufino Mesa’s professional career has been based on artistic creation and education. His sculptural output is based on the link between the past and the present: the world of symbols, archetypes, the sacred character, the basic principles of life, the relationship with nature, to mention just a few. This work is from the exhibition El Gallo de Oro (The Golden Rooster), inspired by the narration “El Gallo de Oro (The Golden Rooster)” by Juan Rulfo on the life of cockfighting. The sculptor’s interest in traditional manifestations owes itself to the wealth of meanings they can have and the possibilities they offer for artistic consideration.
