Mak specialised in bronze casting. Many of his works depicted body torsos, tree trunks, tigers and horses. He used humour and satire to explore the intricate relationships between illusions, dreams and reality. His works are full of poetic and literary allusions.
This sculpture comprises a person and a tree to show opposing and interrelating forces at work. The mysterious combination of the figure with the tree is handled skillfully to create a poetic statement of the artist's inner feelings.
