Rosary with the Crucifixion and The Assumption of the Virgin on two sides of the cross

1650

Palazzo Madama

Palazzo Madama
Torino, Italy

One of the rarest and most precious items in the d’Azeglio Collection. The 13 spheroidal beads are mounted in silver gilt. Each one consists of two hemispheres joined together. The flat surfaces of both hemispheres are painted and gilded from the back – with scenes of the Passion and with pairs of saints – so each bead is figured on both sides.
