Richard Johnson studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee, Scotland. He has worked as a graphics editor at several newspapers. In 2003, while on assignment for the Detroit Free Press, he was embedded with 6th Engineer Support Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force. He began working with the Marine Corps Combat Art Program in 2018 and covered Operation Alligator Dagger in Djibouti, NATO Exercise Trident Juncture in Norway, and Marine transport operations at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. Johnson currently works for a global consulting management firm and does freelance art work.
