Royal Society Fellowship election certificate for Kathleen Lonsdale

Along with Marjory Stephenson, Kathleen Lonsdale was the first woman to be elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1945. Her citation recognises her work on crystalline structures and praises her 'briliant investigation of diffuse X-ray diffractio by crystals and its relation to elstic constants'. She is also recognised as 'an indefatigable and original worker who has opened up new fields'.
