Running meterage of a Namavali

The usual base colors of the Namavali shawls are white, shades of red, bright yellow or saffron, with the printing colors usually red, maroon or black. The vernacular script used for printing the mantra depending on the region the textile will be worn in. The base though commonly cotton is often made of silk too.
