In a short composition, the landscape is understood in its essence, focused and restored to the foreground. In loose brushstrokes, the canvas is loaded with greens that drown the small rustic bridge. Brief studies like this allow Keil to stand at a crossroads of aesthetic times in which the taste of "natural" register overlaps with notions such as finishing, theme nobility, compositional hierarchy. In fact, this work manifests how painting, already autonomous from academic celebratory functions, justifies itself in capturing small patches with naturalness and fruition of its execution.
