Mannequin wearing the everyday rural uniform of the Civil Guard during the transition period, when the officers of the Border and Coast Guard Corps (Cuerpo de Carabineros) became part of the Civil Guard, 1940–43. Units were established and designated Borders, Coasts, Veterans, and Mobile. The former commanders of the Border and Coast Guard Corps were sent to Coasts and Borders, which meant doubling up on commands in some provinces. This led to the creation of double commands with the typical three-digit numbering of the Army.
