  • Description: There is little news about the training of this artist, who grew up in the artistic circles of Florence and Rome alongside Paolo Anesi and Pietro Nelli from Cortona. In Rome, he came into contact with classical landscape painting, while in Venice he was influenced by the work of Marco Ricci, especially in his range of colors, which led him to a style close to the properly Arcadian. In Venice, he also gained renown in his collaborations with Bellotto and Vicentini, of whom he became a close friend. Throughout his life, he devoted himself to landscape painting. The human element is secondary to the natural environment in his works. In this painting, his talent is clearly displayed, as is his formal refinement that goes well with the creation of a pleasant Arcadian atmosphere. The landscape is depicted in minute, naturalistic details. The architectural elements are surrounded by greenery, while the figures, their bodies and drapery, are accurately modeled. The chromatic balance, which is interesting for its delicacy of tone and the luminous atmosphere it creates, reveals the artist's style from around the end of the fifth decade of the eighteenth century.
