Manx National Heritage
Douglas, Isle of Man

Rushen Abbey, with the adjoining lands, is now the property of the Deemster. Every vestige of its interior magnificence has disappeared; but the ruins of this venerable monastery still retain an air of gloomy grandeur (David Robertson, A Tour Through The Isle of Man, 1794, M 01360)

Album of watercolour sketches, gold-blocked black leather binding, 2nd half nineteenth century of the Isle of Man and some prints. The album contains two early watercolour views of the Grove and numerous naive views of locations in the area eg Sulby, Lezayre. Unsigned work. The artist is thought to be associated with the Gibb family of the Grove, Ramsey.
