A suitcase that belonged to Holocaust survivor Ruth Barnett. Born to a Jewish father and a non-Jewish mother in Berlin, Ruth Barnett and her older brother Martin escaped to England on the Kindertransport. Her father also managed to escape to Shanghai, China, whilst her mother, an opponent of the Nazi regime, was forced into hiding for the duration of the Second World War.
