The saenghwang is a free reed mouth organ with a windchest made of dried gourd. There are several kinds depending on the numbers of bamboo pipes used, for example, 13, 17, and 36. Similar to the harmonica, small metal boards resonate and make sounds as the musician inhales and exhales.
