Saint Cecilia Playing the Organ

St Cecilia is the patron saint of music and is normally depicted with an organ, lute or other musical instruments. This painting which has been attributed to the Italian (Emilian) School might be based on a work by Domenichino (1581-1641) which is now lost and which was known as 'al Cardinale di Sansi Santa Cecilia che suono l'organo in armonia de gli Angeli'.
